A nice William Harms fly rod, 8′, 3-piece, 2-tips, built for a #5 line. 4.1 oz. Serial #HB803-001, this is one of Bill’s “Prima-Dona” models. Near mint condition. Fast action and hollow built construction. Heavy wheat straw color temper. Nodes are a spiral pattern. There are some seams (not open) showing in the butt and mid sections adjacent to the nodes. Wraps are a golden brown main, dark brown at the ferrules and keeper, and dark brown for the edges. There is a very light scheme of light brown intermediates. Very good varnish. Ferrules are swiss-style and oxidized. The grip is 5 7/8″ long and styled as a very blunt cigar. The cap and ring seat wood looks like broadleaf maple burl. The cap and ring have rope knurls and are oxidized. A large stamp on the cap states “Wm Harms, Maker” in a cartouche. The rod comes packed in a green soft cloth bag and black painted tube with a brass collar and top. A gold-colored Bill Harms sticker is attached to the tube. A maroon outer bag is provided as well.
