For sale here is a pentagonal Nat Uslan “Spencer Rod” Model no. LFS8500 – 8′ 2/2 5-6wt bamboo rod. Serial no. 2219. One of the tips is a later replacement. Made in the early 1950’s, the rod remains in excellent+ condition having been fished sparingly. All sections are full length with a slight set in the replacement tip. Uslan is best known for making quality rods and being one of the main innovators of the five-sided rod.

The rod features impregnated dark straw colored cane with burgundy wraps. Blued guides. The script remainsclean and bold. The varnish over the script and wraps is also in fine condition. The reverse half-wells grip measures 6 1/8″ with only light soiling. Aluminum up-locking reel seat over a cork spacer. The Super-Z brand ferrules have an excellent fit. The rod weighs 4.05 oz. The action is medium-fast dry fly. The replacement tip has a different taper and results in a much slower action with a heavier tip. Original bag and tube included.
