A beautiful Walt Carpenter Browntone fly rod, 7’9″, 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #4 line. 4.2 ounces. Serial #2111079. Mint, uncast condition. Full flexing but strong DF action. Flamed cane done in a three up node pattern. Excellent varnish. The main wraps are brown with black edges and an extra band of yellow and maroon at the keeper and male ferrules. The step ferrules are oxidized as is the rest of the hardware. The grip is 6″ and shaped to a modified half wells profile (T&T had a similar grip they called the ‘Special Saddle’). The reel seat is a mortised, varnished walnut and the butt cap is stamped “WE Carpenter, Maker”. The rod packs into an eggshell color cloth bag with a hang tag and a brushed aluminum rod tube with brass fittings.
