For sale here is a very special rod made by Walt Carpenter – the “Like a Gillum” bamboo rod. The taper of the rod is based on a rod Pinky Gillum made for his wife, Winnie. Only two of these rods have ever been made by Walt. He used Gillum cane to construct the rod, along with Super Z ferrules, original Gillum silk wraps and Gillum/Halstead guides. The rod remains in near mint condition and comes with its original bag and tube. Bright up-locking reel seat over a mahogany spacer. This rod was built by in 2010 and it comes with a provenance letter from Walt.Mr. Carpenteris arecognized master of the Catskill school of rod building and has recently announced he is no longer taking new orders.
