A nice Walt Carpenter “Special” bamboo fly rod, 6′, 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #4 line. 2.5 ounces. Mint, uncast condition. Medium fast action. This is a one-off rod from Walt with a special mahogany seat. The cane is tempered to a wheatstraw color and done in a three up node pattern. Swelled butt. Yellow main wraps with black edges and extra bands of yellow and black at the keeper and male ferrules. Brown main at the ferrules. Oxidized and truncated swiss-style ferrules. Very high quality varnish work. The grip is 5″ long and turned to a slim cigar. The delicately turned cap and ring are oxidized and the seat is a varnished and flatted mahogany. The rod packs in a light tan weave poplin bag and a brushed aluminum are part of this special package.
