A very nice William Olson Gear and Pawl fly reel, 3 3/4″ diameter and set up for RHW. Black anodized throughout with a clear anodized foot and S-shaped crank handle. Two handsome medallions are inset into the front plate with the first noting the original owner’s name, model (3 3/4″ G&P), and serial number (No. 274) while the second bears William’s maker stamp. The reel weighs 11.2 ounces on my scale. It is in excellent lightly used condition with a small bit rim rash in the “resting spot” and a couple of very small nicks elsewhere on the frame edge. Very clean overall. Ebonite-style handle. Pre-set gear and pawl drag which has one of the loudest clicks of any gear and pawl reel I’ve ever seen (your friends will know when you are into a fish on this reel!). The reels comes with the original leather Arne Mason drawstring bag with Olson’s maker mark stamped into it. Mr. Olson has built a well-deserved reputation as one of our best contemporary bench reelmakers, and, as fans know, the waitlist is substantial.
