A nice Wright of Edinburgh salmon winch, 4 1/4″ diameter with 1 5/8″ spool width. I know relatively little about Wright’s as a maker, though this reel is in fine condition. Interestingly it has no drag incorporated into the design at all. All brass throughout. “Wright, Maker / Edin” engraved into a shield design opposite the handle on the winding plate. Other than normal cosmetic wear from a reel of this age, I could find no real defects. The foot is relatively straight (one side has an ever-so-slight upward angle to it, easily fixed) and the brass has a nice patina throughout. Wood handle. A nice early example of a classic salmon winch.
